Proving that folk music is far more than beards and pewter tankards,Folk Is Not A Four Letter Word collates 16 songs plucked from relative obscurity,obsessively and lovingly curated along with enthusiastic and illuminating liner notes by Twisted Nerve's Andy Votel.So this is folk,but maybe not as you know it.Although the songs are played on conventional instruments,there's as much diversity here as in any musical genre,and each song sounds like it should be on the coolest movie soundtrack ever.Could that really be true of folk?You bet.

Thanks very much - I've really been enjoying the various collections Andy Votel has been curating. Prog is Not a Four-Letter Word is excellent, and his Vertigo mix CD is lots of fun.
This sounded interesting, but the link has been deleted. Any chance of reposting?
