V.V.A.A. : GS I LOVE YOU TOO (JAPAN'66-'69)

A Feast of Fuzz : Japanese Garage Psych Bands

It's hard to comprehend that the music on this compilation was once regarded as immoral, decadent and anarchistic. But that's how the Japanese establishment of the mid 1960's reacted to Groups Sounds ,the striking pop-rock movement that swept the country in the latter half of the decade.Previously derided by foreigners as weak and derivative, rock revisionism has in recent years, given recognition to the dual strengts of GS : it's wild, reckless energy and an innate naive charm.

Great collection... I picked up a couple of similar one while in Tokyo a couple of years back, but much was hit or miss. Neither was as good as this.

Thank you so much for this. Japanese GS music is so hard to get in the US. If anyone is interested, I have a yahoogroup for people interested in GS and other Japanese pop music at http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/tokyopop/
