According to a text by the italian alchemist Varelli,3 infernal deities live in 3 cursed houses,in New York,Rome and Freiburg:the three Mothers,i.e.,Mater Suspiriorum (the Mother of all Sighs),Mater Lacrimarum (the Mother of all Tears) and Mater Tenebrarum (the Mother of Darkness).After reading the book and taking the risks of exploring the galleries under her house's basement,young Rose Lilliott is convinced that the house she has jus settled in is Mater Tenebrarum's.This awareness costs the girl her life;she just manages to inform her brother Mark,who studies musicology in Rome,of her discovery.More deaths follow;everybody who somewhat senses the frightful secret of the house dies.Back in N.Y.,Mark settles in the house and runs the risk of being killed many times.While a violent fire destroys the the house he finally discovers the truth on the three Mothers.....
